As a community interest company, the primary aim of The Serge Hill Project is to work with mental health charities and schools in the local Hertfordshire area. The project has use of the Apple House which has been designed to function as a hub for workshops and training, including educational sessions with local primary and secondary schools. The building is set within a nurturing garden environment, enabling creative ways of connecting with nature.

Sunnyside Rural Trust
The Orchard garden includes a nursery leased to and run by Sunnyside Rural Trust, a Hertfordshire based charity which provides horticultural training for people with learning disabilities.
From June 2024, Sunnyside apprentices will be propagating plants from the plant library which includes 1500 varieties of perennials and grow them on for commercial sale. The charity sells plants at their Hemel Food Garden in Hemel Hempstead and will use the Orchard nursery site to expand their plant growing capacity. They originally started growing high quality perennial plants in 2019 when they grew all the herbaceous plants for Tom's exhibition garden at the Hampton Court Flower Show in July 2021.
