The Apple House, Serge Hill Lane, Bedmond, WD5 0RZ
7 August 2024, 5.30pm-8pm

'For me garden design is not just about plants, it is about emotion, atmosphere, a sense of contemplation’ – Piet Oudolf

A rare opportunity to hear the pioneering Dutch plantsman, nurseryman and author, at the forefront of the New Perennial movement Piet Oudolf reflecting on the gardens and plants that have defined his career so far.

Information

The most influential planting designer of modern times, Piet Oudolf’s latest project transforming the iconic two-acre Glasshouse Landscape at the RHS flagship Wisley garden in Surrey, 20 years after he created it, is just one of the many projects he will discuss from his career which spans five decades.

Originally meeting at Chelsea in 2000, Piet Oudolf and Tom Stuart-Smith have become friends over the last 25 years and have collaborated at Trentham and travelled to China together. The evening presents a unique opportunity to hear Piet Oudolf, in the surrounds of the new Plant Library at Tom Stuart-Smith’s home in Serge Hill, containing 1500 herbaceous perennials, with a chance to explore the gardens before and after the event.

Other information: As part of this event, guests will have the opportunity to visit Tom Stuart-Smith’s Barn Garden as well as the Plant Library where 1500 herbaceous perennials are grown, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm (this usually costs £30 if booked separately).

All money raised from ticket sales will go directly to the Serge Hill Project which is a not for profit CIC (Community Interest Company).
